To be seen during daylight hours is relatively easier than at night time. Wearing a high visibility waistcoat covers approximately one third of the body and with its bright colouring can be easily seen from a distance during the day in inclement or foggy weather conditions, serving as a clear marker. The efficiency of the waistcoat is dramatically reduced if not kept clean. Always check the waistcoat and reflective stripes are clean. The reflective stripes use glass bead technology to ensure such high rates of light refraction.
Why wear a SAC Visibility Kit
At night time the jacket takes on a different format that of a highly reflective garment due to the two horizontal stripes placed in a location which is approved, by virtue of its European certification. The garment works on the basis of reflecting light from an external light source such as car headlights. However it is a necessity to have an external light source, therefore when on dimly lit streets or country roads it is advisable to increase the visual protection by using the luminous stick and the spot glow.
Been Seen – Be Safe, an excellent motto for children travelling or walking on the roads in the United Kingdom but what does it really mean?

The luminous stick is hung around the neck using an anti-choke cord which allows the luminous stick to be safely retained and move freely around the chest area. The purpose of the luminous stick is two-fold; first to add visible protection to the wearer, second to offer a visual comfort zone, which is a major benefit as the luminous stick offers a radiant glow.
The Spot Glow is placed on the centre back of the high visibility waistcoat at about chest height. When illuminated, the Spot Glow will give off a soft luminescence to indicate the wearer, especially on dark roads. This also has a two-fold benefit; protecting the wearer from vehicles coming from behind, provides psychological comfort in the knowledge of protection
When co-ordinated they offer enhanced visual safety for the wearer, allowing drivers to see the wearer from a further distance therefore providing more time to take any action that may be necessary to pass the wearer safely thus ensuring the wearer can ‘Be seen – be safe’.
