The role of the SAC Friend is to locate local businesses, organisations and private sponsors, to introduce them to the Sponsor a class (SAC) programme. This is done cost effectively using internet telephony and local knowledge.
The SAC Friend should propagate sponsors in areas local to schools and colleges. Informing a potential sponsor about the SAC programme should include verbal communication as well as viewing the SAC website, along with the provision of documentary information and an application form, which can be handed, mailed, emailed or downloaded. This information should provide enough information on t
he programme and the organisation to allow the sponsor to make an informed decision. The Local Agent should clearly explain the sponsorship process.
The Process
When a sponsor indicates a class or school to be sponsored the information is passed to the processing office by means of the SAC sponsorship form.
The school is then contacted and advised it will be receiving the sponsorship and which class has been sponsored. The school will then provide information as to the number of pupils in the class and their age.
When this information is received an invoice is produced and remitted by mail or email to the sponsor. Upon receipt of payment by the sponsor the SAC Visibility Kits are prepared and despatched to the school, normally within 7-10 days. The package sent includes a note of the sponsor’s details allowing the pupils to write a ‘thank you’ note.
A certificate of sponsorship is then produced and mailed to the sponsor with a covering letter encouraging the sponsor to recommend friends and associates to SAC. The sponsor’s details are then inserted into the SAC website at the appropriate place; this may include a link to the sponsor’s website if there is a valid URL. (SAC will not link to any URL considered inappropriate).
10-14 days after the sponsorship form has been returned by the sponsor the SAC Friend should contact the sponsor to ensure the sponsor is happy with the information inserted into the site. This is also a good time to enquire if the sponsor has received any ‘thank you’ letters or interested in further sponsorship.
This completes the SAC process.
